  • Who knows... some do some don't.

What we don't need is people telling us we don't have freedom to worship.

  • Seneca figured out this question more than 2000 years ago: For the stupid masses religion is true, for the intelligent people it is wrong and for the leaders it is usefull....

  • It's up to the individual. It's a personal choice that shouldn't be influenced by anyone's opinion. Free choice either way. Live and let live.

    • @migs1955

So don't expose children to religious indoctrination.

Make it illegal to influence kid's thinking about religion and wait until they're 18 to allow them to be exposed to it.

      I dare ya.

    • @migs1955 I would agree, if you agreed to remove ALL legislation that is motivated by religious dogma. I also dare ya :)

    • @jackal452 No, you just want everybody to think like you. You'd have a problem no matter when someone decides to have a faith in a higher power. That's all it boils down to.

    • @migs1955 I grew up havn to beg to go to church, as we had no religion whatsoever but I developed my own beliefs along the way, thankfully it was easy due to no brainwashing, no preconceived notions about life or death :o)

    • @fuchajen Same here. I didn't become a believer until my 40s. It wasn't a sudden epiphany or anything like that. Was just a slowly evolving bunch of questions forming. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Am I just a result of some cosmic accident. Is there some meaning in life? What is my destiny? All those weird things you think about when you have too much time on your hands! :)

  • People (plural) don't.
People (singular) sometimes think they do.

  • NO!

People in the dark ages needed religion, because religion was law. The people couldn't read, so they followed the weekly (or daily) religious services (unless you are Muslim, then it is 7 times a day) for guidance and knowledge (and a brainwashing).

Today's "civilized" culture (excluding Muslim) doesn't need religion. The law takes care of that.

Religion and Politics are mirror images of each other. Both are power mongers. Both can't survive without followers.

  • It's all about how we deal with our concience.
We only need religion if we do something bad and refuse to make amends.

    • @robocorv Nah that's more about morality then religion. You can be an absolute evil bastard and still be devoutly religious. But if your moral's are strong then you either don't it in the first place or fix it afterwards.

  • Short answer: no.
    Long answer: definitely not.

If a 20 year old tells you he believes in Santa Claus he is rightly ridiculed as being a moron. If a 50 year old tells you he believes in religion then it is something to be respected? Give me a break. Simply giving your story the title 'Religion' shouldn't require anybody to hold it in some special regard.

I am fortunate enough to have been raised sufficiently well not to need a fairy tale to guide my morals or teach me right from wrong. I think More..

  • The choice is between chaos and order. Structure and anarchy. From the top down, without it, there is no honesty, integrity, or order. The basic teachings come from it. yes, there are many problems today and most stem from a falling away from the basic teachings that are derived from religion. The failings of it are not from the religion it's self, but the failings of mankind.
Men love to adjust a set rule and bend it to suit what they want, not just follow it. If it cannot be bent, deny it. We More..

  • . No Church, Synagogue, Temple, Mosque, or Shrine has now the power to save souls. They are all evening empires, man-made idols of worship crumbling into dust. They have collectively destroyed the divine unity of the universal self and divided HIS children. The surety of the Resurrection destines their destruction, as they will free their flocks to confirm the truth and evolve us into higher beings! Religion is the impotence of the entire human soul! the heart of a heartless world trying to deal More..
