A man is charged after Reynoldsburg police says he resisted arrest during a traffic stop.
Reynoldsburg police says at about 1:47 a.m. Feb. 12 Officer Shane Mauger witnessed a vehicle turn out of a gas station at East Livingston Avenue and Brice Road and drive southbound in the northbound lanes of Brice Road. Officer Mauger initiated a traffic stop. Upon stopping, Timothy A. Irskens, 31, exited his vehicle.
Acting Reynoldsburg Police Chief Scott McKinley said Irskens kept his hands concealed and repeatedly disobeyed Mauger's commands to get back into his vehicle. Dash-camera video shows Mauger tackling Irskens. Irskens was arrested and was found to have a utility knife on his person.
Irskens was charged with obstructing official business (F-5), resisting arrest (M-2), carrying concealed weapons (M-1) and OVI (M-1), .Mauger sustained a broken hand during the scuffle. Irskens was not injured.

Great examples of everything not to do during a traffic stop. Exiting your vehicle without being told to do so, putting your hands in your pockets, and completely ignoring commands. Every cop in the US will draw their gun on you because of these examples, deservedly so.

When a cop pulls their gun and the suspect is still non-compliant, it tells the officer they are either insane, wanted, or are willing to die. It's best to just comply quietly & instantly and let a good lawyer sort it out.

@Steve15425 It's amazing how many people just don't simply do that. It always goes worse for them. Always.

@Steve15425 How about when the cop is wrong and everyone knows it. Then you're still insane for standing up for what's right.

Way to deescalate the situation there officers...As an officer I've never got the point of screaming at people what you want them to do. It only lets the person know they've gotten to you and you are having a hard time controlling yourself. I've resolved the same type of situation lots of times with clear commands and conveying to the person what I want them to do.
There is a time and place for command presence and command presence does not mean you waddle toward the person dropping the f-bomb More..

@idahoguy4life Well I wish more cops were smart like you and realized that they are not special or above the law, but are there to assist the citizens and even if the citizen is breaking the law, antagonizing the situation is not likely to end good. It's just that there are so many videos popping up lately of cops acting like total power tripping douchebags, it makes me wonder if the majority are like that and what can we do about it.

@ka50
As I've pointed out many times on here: The reason people are getting that feeling about law enforcement is because that is the only videos they see. Think about it, if you were recording law enforcement and nothing interesting happened would you really post it on a website? The guys doing their jobs correctly and going about business with citizens as normal are never seen...
This is just creating the "Us against Them" feelings by the community.
I'm not sure what the answer More..

He clearly walked away to empty his pockets like all good drug addicts do. I will agree the passenger was a bit much but I think they weren't sure what had been going on and weren't going to play anymore. Like I always say, don't act stupid with the cops and nothing will happen.

I have no sympathy or pity for assholes who drive while intoxicated. If they're that stupid and selfish they deserve whatever happens. I'm glad they got him off the road before he killed somebody.

Common sense tells us, when a gun is drawn and commands are being ordered. Comply or get tackled by a pretty big cop. Your choice.
