The first lake effect snow of the season blanketed Erie, Pennsylvania and parts of Erie County. There have been a number of traffic accidents on snow covered roads and highways that got up to six inches of snow in some spots. The heavy snow has been breaking tree limbs, some still full of leaves, and that's also bringing down power lines. Thousands of people, about 12-thousand at last count, remain without power and some may have to go another day in the cold and dark. Stores in the Millcreek Mall were without power as well. Late Tuesday afternoon, seniors were evacuated from housing complexes where the power was out and taken to shelters for the night. Utility crews from Altoona and Johnstown, and from Cleveland, Ohio, are providing help to restore power.
