On March 14, 2011 two shops selling jewelry and gold were robbed by a
group of 7 robbers armed with automatic rifles. The robbers arrived in a
Mazda and split into two groups to pick each of the shops which were
adjacent to each other. Two people were killed during the heist and 4
injured. The robbers made off with an undisclosed number of golden
ornaments.
Among the casualties were the owner of one of the shops – Wichai
Srithaksinakhun and a security guard Jitti Pluemjai. The robbery took
place in the downtown of Sungai, Kolok district, province of Narathiwat,
Thailand.
The province of Narathiwat is mostly known for the Islamic insurgency
– the deadliest Islamic insurgency in a non Islamic country. But since
this is Thailand, Muslim extremists are not the only danger.

In Thailand most shop owners are armed, especially jewelry stores. So if you are going to rob them you have to "come in hot"

Those.... are the worst gunshot sounds I've ever heard dubbed over any film.
That being said, the footage which was not faked, is rather sad. People trying to make an honest living and then being terrorized by pathetic individuals. Sad.
