  • Unfortunately, this explanation of the history of the word "faggot" is almost complete garbage.

    Yes, the word originally meant "a bundle of sticks." It originates with the Latin word "fascis," which is also where we get our word "fascism," incidentally, which has sometimes been symbolized with the traditional Roman bundle of sticks with an axe blade at one end (a "fasces"), an emblem of strength through numbers.

      The myth could've taken any form. Its veracity is obviously NOT really the point. And no one said that it "wasn't okay" for anyone to say anything. The faggot was just saying how the word made him feel according to who was using it and why.
