    • @MaKy Yeah in the UK we had Hungerford and Dunblain now under the most restrictive gun laws we have Raul Moat, and Cumbria...
      We have had a number of torture robberies and violent burglaries (one where a man was tortured with a clothes iron on his back)
      Our stabbings are through the roof, as are violent assaults...
      There are shooting so often in London in now goes unreported, not even making the news... most firearms not belonging to the military and police belong to criminals.

  • As a Canadian, I'm glad this shit isn't commonplace where I live. For the life of me I can't understand why more Americans don't carry a gun on their person, either open or concealed. I know it wouldn't prevent this guy from going into a theater and slaughtering people, but I'd much rather have a pistol on my hip if shit like this were to go down.

      I don't think I could pull it off without getting myself killed. He was armored head to toe and a .223 would outgun anything I would have been carrying. I would have tried though. I suppose I would have some advantage not having my vision restricted by a helmet and gas mask.

      Of course, that theater was a gun-free zone, which only empowered this individual to kill as many people as he possibly could.

  • If everyone in the theater was allowed to carry a gun then nobody would have died because they could have just shot him. If all guns are banned the bad guys are still going to find ways to get it, its not that hard to find an illegal gun. we have a right to defend oursleves

  • I havent read all the comments, but a large amount of them. Ill be one of the few to say it. Good job by the police for a quick response, and possibly save more people from being killed or wounded. Yes its their job, but very gutsy.

    • @landryde1 I live about 45 min. north of there. Local officials are praising the cops for not waiting on ambulances (that were not coming) and driving many wounded to the hospital in their patrol cars. They definitely did their duty and then some!

  • The city of Aurora Colorado has a municipal ordinance allowing commercial establishments to ban weapons (Sec. 94-152) even by those who have a license. Cinemark theater, where the shooting occurred, has banned weapons at all of their theaters since at least 2009.

    Violation of the Aurora city ordinance is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. They also banned CCW from their city. It is not just the shooter with blood on his hands, so are those who implemented gun control.
