SECRET VIDEO: Mitt Romney on 47% of Americans

"During a private fundraiser earlier this year, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a small group of wealthy contributors what he truly thinks of all the voters who support President Barack Obama. He dismissed these Americans as freeloaders who pay no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should take care of them."

Cenk Uygur discusses the tape and breaks down Mitt Romney's comments.

What Romney said is 100% correct. Almost half of the country pays no federal income tax. The top 50% pays about 97% of all income tax. In other words, half the country paid more in FI taxes on January 1, 2012 than almost half the country will in the entire year. That's "fairness" you can believe in.

  • Voting for a candidate who'll keep your government benefits as the country is ruined from overspending is disgusting, not what Romney said about it.

He's a conservative, this is a key difference between him and Obama and we all know about 45% of the voters will vote for Obama no matter what and this is a big reason why.

Funny that everyone is so outraged by the simple truth. It's like they all want to deny reality.

  • Mitt Romney is 100% correct. Half this country sits around and complains that the "rich" aren't paying their fair share when they don't pay a dime into the system.

Everyone should pay the same % across the board. If you make 15k a year, you should pay the same % as someone who makes 75k a year. If you don't think it's fair that you make 15k a year and have to pay taxes, too fucking bad.

Not really my point. Point was that I think its pathetic to blame the poor. Yes welfare use has jumped a bunch in the past few years but to call them lazy and to say they "expect" it is dead wrong.
