PELHAM -- Pelham police released a video this week of the Sept. 14 crash in Pelham Town Center that involved three vehicles, including Pelham police Lt. Brian McCarthy's unmarked cruiser.

McCarthy and the drivers of other two vehicles that collided at the intersection of Old Bridge Street, Main Street and Nashua Road were shaken up, but escaped serious injury in the crash that occurred at 2 p.m. on the Friday before Pelham's Old Home Day.

The video was captured by a surveillance camera mounted atop the front of the Pelham Fire Station.

In the video, McCarthy's Chevy Impala is first seen in-frame, pulling up to the stop-line on Main Street. Within seconds, a Cadillac enters the frame to McCarthy's left, heading north on Old Bridge Street, about to pass in front of McCarthy's stopped cruiser. Suddenly, from the left of the frame, a Ford Escape appears to blow

through the stop sign at the end of Nashua Road before clipping the front end of the Cadillac and going into a roll.
The Escape, driven by 32-year-old Karen Cimino of Groveland, Mass., rolls onto the front hood, windshield, and roof of McCarthy's cruiser, before rolling back and coming to rest on its side on the pavement.

Pelham Police Lt. Gary Fisher said on Wednesday the crash remains under investigation by New Hampshire State Police. A charge or citation has not yet been brought or issued to any driver in connection with the crash, Fisher said.

Pelham Police records show since 2008 there have been 30 crashes at what is regarded as the town's most dangerous intersection.

Fire Chief James Midgley said the danger is expected to be alleviated once the New Hampshire Transportation Department completes a dual roundabouts project next year.
