  • I love those Super Red Hawks. I own a Ruger Security Six .357 and hope to own a Red Hawk some time soon.

    • @dirtbiker201 I wouldn't bother. .357 is perfect. Use .38 Special at the range to save money, and .357 when you really mean it. :-)

The Ruger GP 100 is nice in .357.

Right. I inherited my step-Dad's Colt Python so I have two in .357. We used to spend hours reloading .38 shells back when I was a young teenager, soon after my Dad died and he married my Mom. He passed in 1995. I sure as hell miss him. I need to get back to reloading again one of these days.

One of my favorite things to do is load a mix of .38 and .357, spin the chamber, and start shooting. Quite the rush when you hit the .38's and it's pop pop pop, then you hit a .357 an More..

    • @dirtbiker201 HA!! Never tried that!!

Good story, too. And very similar to mine. My dad and I reloaded all of our shells for our revolvers/pistols/shotguns. He passed in '04.

      Cheers to you, friend. :-)

Cheers to you as well. And I LOVE THAT DRUM SET!! Makes me want to go down to the basement, knock some dust off the old set, and give it hell for an hour!!!

  • All I'm thinking is about the stinging reverberation through my hands and wrists. Not to mention how much those .44 cartridges cost. I fired a couple cylinders from a .460 once and that was enough to tell me, it wasn't enjoyable. It's like the Glock 20 10mm I have. It's fun only for about 10 shots and then it's way too much work to hold onto. To the contrary, it's my personal protection tool. The operator only needs one center mass shot to make an awful mess of things.

  • A friend of mine has a similar weapon, and I can only fire about 6-12 rounds before it stops being fun.

    • @jeffbaustin Normally If I take mine out I'll take 20 rounds of magnum loads & about two 50 round boxes of 44 specials.

You're right Heavy loads cease to be fun after a while.

  • Shot a Super Red Hawk .454 (Casull) the other day.
Each round looked like a damn AA battery and cost about 2 dollars a shot.

I shot about 20 rounds, and I was ready to be done.

  • How difficult is it to own one of these in the UK?

    • @doc92 No fully automatic weapons permitted in UK. Following the Dunblane massacre, the government passed the Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997, banning private ownership of handguns almost completely.

  • The Red Hawk was my very first gun. Love that gun I'll never get rid of it

  • Looks like a 232Gr Elmer Kieth designed Bullet... good flat nose for hunting.

I particularly don't like the 44 mag in a revolver, the leaver rifle is more preferable for me.

The dam Shock wave from the bullet leaving the cylinder, and jumping into the forcing cone of the barrel... is the shock wave which hammers my sinuses and ends up giving me a frikin head ache when ever shooting that frikin hand cannon.

The ballistics with the 44mag and 45colt are close enough for hand gunning, and with m More..

  • British guy, in USA shooting range? Doubt this is in UK. Guns like this are illegal and not permitted on indoor ranges.
