Shiite Houthi sniper shoots a seven month old girl in her head while she was in her father's arms, her brains said to have fallen on him, she is shown dead in the video (December 17th 2011). The second video shows many others killed in the same village (video taken about 2 weeks ago, but killing is still ongoing).
Shiite Houthis were in the last few years involved in six civil wars in the far north of Yemen, and in the last war drew in Saudi Arabia against them. Today, the Houthis were alligned with the peaceful revolution, but have broken away and restarted an armed rebellion but this time not against the government but against Sunnis which form the greater part of the revolution.
The killings in this video took place in the area of Damaj which has been besieged by Houthis from all around stopping entry of all goods and food and medicine, and preventing entry or exit of any people. This has then been followed by intense shelling of the houses of the village with a population of about 14,000 people. There is an Islamic Sunni school in the village, which has many foreign students, with reports of Americans, French, British, Indonesians, Canadians, and many other nationalities being killed. Some foreign nationalities are shown in the second video. The school has been living peacefully in the village for at least 30 years.
However, it is not only the school being attacked, with the Houthis marching into Hajjah which is a dominantly Sunni governate and opening a second front in the rebellion to reach the Red Sea port of Midi, with stated aims to take the port to allow import of Iranian weapons in a future Houthi state or autonomous region on the model of Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Houthis have also marched into Al-Jawf governate and been repelled. And new fronts are being opened by Houthis into Amran governate where clashes have been reported too.
The Houthis have already overtaken Sadah governate which is their main base, and appointed their own governor Faris Manna, a notorious arms dealer/smuggler whose foreign accounts have been frozen on account of arms deals with Somali terrorists.
It has been reported on the ground that the president Ali Abdullah Saleh's son Ahmad Ali (themselves Shiites) has agreed with the Houthis to let them overtake the northern governates if his government falls, which it now has. Loyalist Republican Guards under the command of Ahmad Ali have been observed directing, helping and fighting with Houthis in many areas, and Houthis have been fighting alongside the Guards in yet another region Arhab against the revolutionary forces. This is believed to be the Saleh family's only hope of survival in Yemen.
