The pilot of an Beechcraft King Air made an emergency landing at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth Thursday afternoon.
The plane belongs to the FAA, who uses the plane for inspection and training. FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford said the pilot was completing a training flight when the nose gear deployment failed. The failure was not part of an exercise, Lunsford said.
With the nose gear mostly down but not locked into place, the pilot circled the airport and burned fuel before attempting to land.
At about 2:30 p.m., the pilot touched down on the runway, and nose gear collapsed a few seconds later. The plane skidded several hundred feet before coming to a stop.
Emergency vehicles, which had been on standby since the airport raised it's emergency alert level in anticipation of the arrival, surrounded the aircraft and sprayed it with a fire retardant -- though no flames were seen.
Two people were onboard the aircraft and both walked away, apparently without injury.

Of course - if it was due to mechanical failure or some other problem not caused by pilot error. Like that Skully guy who landed in the Hudson River after birds were sucked into the engines. Damn good piloting.

In china they would have sprayed the foam while evacuation took place, also as a mean of preventing fire inside they would deliver some 1000 gallons of foam into the plane as well.
