Obama lied and said he would cut the deficit in HALF by the end of his first term. He INCREASED it by $6 Trillion.

I agree Clinton created a yearly surplus. Arguably from cutting the defense budget. Clinton did not pay down the national debt in a significant fashion.

I can name 3 things he did right, gave the go ahead to kill Bin Laden, got out of Iraq (albeit later than I expected), and got some health care reform done.
He could have saved the money used on the bailouts to pay down some of the debt, a move which pretty much all economists at the time said would be financially disastrous for the economy. Repealing the Glass-Steagal Act as part of the problem, saying it led to the market crash is a bit misleading.
