State Dept. Admits Only ONE Security Member Was Guarding Amb. Stevens

Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Programs Charlene Lamb testified at the House Oversight Committee Hearing today that only one security guard was with Ambassador Chris Stevens at the time of the attack on 9-11. The security guard fled the smoke-filled building through a window and left the ambassador inside the building.

    • @detroit_doc Its being reported that a 16 member Special Forces security team and a 6 person Mobile Security team were pulled out a month before the attack, despite 10+ attacks occurring in the month prior.

    • @detroit_doc Most embassies and consulates are guarded by Marines. The RSOs (State Department security officials) often advise the ambassadors to increase security, but they decline because they don't want to offend the host nation.

Benghazi on Sept 11, was not the time, nor place for a light foot print... The hearings and other things are bringing that fact to light. They were WARNED this was coming!!

    • @wharris The State Department contains some of the smartest and most hard-working people in the government.

      The division that is in charge of guarding embassies and consulates is filled with security experts. These RSOs, Regional Security Officers, are in charge of maintaining safety in and around the embassy and of its personell.

      Often times they tell the higher ups that more security is needed, and the government either ignores their requests or the ambassadors deny their input because it More..

  • First we were told Stevens had fallen into the hands of the attackers and was tortured and raped. He probably was set up to be killed, sent to Benghazi so he would not have the embassy security, easier to attack.
