On the 10th of August 2012, the Free Syrian Army captured 3 members of Al-Ikhbaria TV in the district of Al-Tal in Damascus' countryside.
The crew members are, Journalist Yara Saleh, Cameraman Aboud
Tabra, Cameraman Assistant Hatem Abu Yehya.
Al-Ikhbaria is a privately owned, pro-government news station known for reporting from the frontlines whilst being embedded with the Assad army.
Video 1: Explanation of who they are and who captured them, and that they are being treated well in accordance with muslim law. Also being explained that their lives are in danger due to the random shelling in Al-Tal and that the Assad army should stop bombing the area. Further on in the video, the FSA member explains that they are looking for a trade. They wish to trade these 3 journalists for hundreds of villagers detained in the raid on Al-Tal by the Assad army.
Video 2: The reporters themselves explain how they got captured, in what area they got captured and that they were reporting the fighting in that area. They also explain that they are being treated well, that they are even getting cigarettes to smoke etc.
You can hear the random shelling in the background in this video.
Video 3: Yara Saleh, the only female amongst the captives, before being captured.
My personal opinion: These journalists work for an organisation known for spreading propaganda and lies. However, there could be many reasons why they are working there. Either way, journalists should not be harmed, and I hope Yara and her crew get released soon.
