Suspect Arrested After Police Chase

WESTLAKE, Ohio -- A female employee of the Lutheran Home at Concord Reserve on Dover Center Road in Westlake was nearly abducted Sunday morning from the parking lot.
The 34-year-old Lorain woman reported that a man attempted to abduct her and force her into his vehicle at about 5 a.m.

Westlake officers spotted the man on Dover Center Road and signaled him to stop. He fled and entered Interstate 90 eastbound at Crocker Road. Rocky River police deployed stop sticks on I-90 near Detroit Road. The suspect's car became disabled on the McKinley Road exit ramp.
The suspect, identified as David Guadarrama Mancilla ran, but was caught on Fernway Avenue 11 minutes after the initial call, police said.
Mancilla, 28, was charged with kidnapping and felony fleeing. He is expected to be in Rocky River Municipal Court on Monday on charges of kidnapping and felony fleeing.
Westlake police spokesman Guy Turner said that the victim displayed excellent judgment under severe strain by using the weapon she had at hand -- her purse -- to distract, discourage and delay the suspect. Less..
