Fleeing suspect hides under parked truck, run over

Maybe Obama did bring this country some good luck,

A 26-year-old man fleeing police slipped under a parked truck, only to be run over moments later by the driver of the truck.

A state Department of Public Safety officer had stopped the man, identified as Shawn Holden of Phoenix, just before 7 a.m. after he ran a red light at 51st Avenue and McDowell Road, according to a police statement.

The officer approached Holden's vehicle and requested his license. After handing over his license, authorities said Holden bolted from the car and ran north on 51st Avenue, through the intersection, and behind a 7-Eleven store. He then crawled underneath a parked truck owned by a moving company.

The unsuspecting truck driver ran over Holden. The pursuing police officer stopped the driver and alerted him of the injured man. He also detained Holden, who complained of back pain.

Holden was treated for his injuries and taken to a Maricopa County jail. He was found to have two felony warrants for DUI and leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident. His license has been suspended and revoked.

Phoenix police were conducting a criminal investigation of the incident and the Arizona Department of Public Safety was conducting an administrative investigation.
