The 33 Day War: How Hezbollah Defeated Israel - A Military Analysis
The Israeli government violated the first principle of war - it showed
contempt for its enemy, Hezbollah, and the resulting intelligence
failure during its July campaign was catastrophic. It meant that, after
the inability of Israel's air campaign to degrade Hezbollah assets in
the first 72 hours of the war, a decisive victory for Israel became
highly unlikely. This left Israel with no alternative but to invade
Lebanon with ground troops in the hope of destroying Hezbollah's will to
prevail.

Hezbollah might have won a PR war with Israel, but in no means a conventional war.

i wouldnt say they defeated israel, but israel definitely failed to achieve any of its intended goals, and in the end israel needed UN peacekeepers to intervene when they realized the war wasnt going to be won quickly

Iran proxy war in Lebanon. I think hizb allah won the war for one reason, they have nothing to lose in Lebanon. Lebanon a and the Lebanese ppl lost everything in the first place, 1200+ Lebanese killed, 600 Hezbollah fighters killed, 4000 Lebanese disabled. and here we are not talking how much money Lebanon lost, or cluster Bombs. Israel lost was big too for the first time some Arab group was able to cause damage on Israeli soil, 121 IDF soldiers were killed in the war and some injured. Not a fan More..

load of crap....Israels casualties were low (And mainly Arabs) and damage minimal. I saw with my own eyes.
Israel could of wiped Hezbollah out easily, if at the time we had a stronger leadership and were not held back by the UN, EU and America.

@Freejay what do u mean held back? Israel used WP, and Cluster bombs no other country on earth is allowed to use? Even if damage was minimal it was on the Israeli soil, and still Israel was unable to get their soldiers back. believe me I want Hizballah out of Lebanon more than any one else, also no one can deny that Israel economy in the North was hurt badly

and what is the other 95% that they didn't use? nuclear and biological weapons? They used ever conventional weapons they have and it did not deliver victory.

Actually the States told your government to press on and Israel wanted the cease fire. Goes to prove the Israeli's can not sustain a long war especially when the their is a significant loss of life on their side.

Hezbollah are trying to change the "historic impression" of their clear DEFEAT. Only a loser would say: They outnumbered us so ... we won. Israel was not EXPELLED by force of arms, they just left. The Israeli gov't was critical of the progress of the war but that doesn't mean the Muslims won. Gawd! How desperate are Muslims for pride!
Muslim comments like this are like the voice of a "school yard bully" beaten by a nerd. Childish, weak and pathetic.

I don't think you understand the significance of the this war. You have to remember the IDF always pride itself on getting result with victory after another. This was not case this time, the Israeli's were so ignorant to understand the enemy and they taught they can reach Beirut in less than 2 weeks. That did not happen, they could not even occupy a small village 1km from the Israeli border. Going back to your comment of "Only a loser would say: They outnumbered us so ... we wo More..
