Eating Their Own: Conservative Editor Calls For Ouster Of Grover Norquist From Conservative Movement
And there's a growing awareness among real conservatives who would
like to see Norquist toppled from his position of power in Washington
just as much as those on the left.
Count me among those in that group.
In the past, I have spent some time explaining that
Norquist represents the gravitational center of an effort at Muslim
Brotherhood infiltration of the conservative movement and politics in
America more generally – especially Republican politics.
Slowly but surely, more conservatives and Republicans are coming
to that recognition. It's a slow train only because so few with a
soapbox are willing and able to explain it. Norquist has spent a
lifetime building coalitions, raising money and growing power and
influence.
He sits on key boards of directors that help shape the agenda of
the conservative movement – from the American Conservative Union, which
produces the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in
Washington, to the National Rifle Association.
But I believe his days as one of the most influential
conservatives in America are drawing to a close – and that's a good
thing.
I say this not only because of his decidedly Shariah-friendly activities and associations.
I say it not only because of his decision to bless GOProud, a
faux conservative group promoting the homosexual agenda to Republicans.
I also say it because Norquist represents all that is wrong with
the so-called "economic conservatives" in our midst – a group that turns
out to be not so conservative on economics once you scratch beneath the
surface of what they are saying and doing.
I came to this latter determination only by careful and patient scrutiny of their activities over years.
You will note, for instance, the following tell-tale indications:
- Grover Norquist may oppose tax increases, but he doesn't
seem to be troubled at all by America's skyrocketing debt. In fact, he
was an early advocate of what became, without doubt, the dumbest, most
unconservative move of House Republicans this year – voting to approve a
hike in the debt limit that gave Barack Obama all the funny money he
needed to continue ravaging the U.S. economy through Jan. 20, 2013.
House Republicans had all the power to say no to more reckless spending
this year and next. That was the one and only control of the House in
the 2010 elections that would have allowed them to do unilaterally. And
Norquist was one of the principal architects of the plan to bargain away
this political nuclear weapon for … nothing.
- Once that total surrender by House Speaker John
Boehner was complete, Norquist was there cheering it on – explaining how
Boehner had somehow snookered Obama. Norquist likes to say he would
reduce the size of the federal government so that you could drown it in a
bathtub, but here was the first chance Republicans had in a long time
to take a major leap forward toward the objective of constitutionally
limited government. Norquist helped orchestrate the squandering of that
opportunity.
brand of "social conservatism" carefully are pro-establishment actions
that support the status quo. Like all politicians (and that is
ultimately what Norquist is), you can't just listen to what they say.
You have to watch what they do.
Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., has awakened to the reality of what Grover Norquist really represents.
Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Virginia, has had an epiphany.
And even some very close to Norquist at the NRA and the ACU are beginning to recognize he is not an asset to their causes.
Yes, it's true that Norquist is taking more heat from the left
than from the right. Sometimes that makes conservatives want to rally
around one they perceive as an embattled true believer.
Grover Norquist is not a conservative true believer. He may have
been at one time. But he is no longer – that's for certain. Maybe, like
other politicians, he's just been around Washington too long.
Here's the scorecard you should consider:
- He's shockingly pro-Islamist and has used his well-developed
connections in Washington to spread the tentacles of stealthy jihad
through the corridors of power, including the White House.
- He's is unashamedly pro-perversion, given his position on the advisory board of GOProud.
- And he is a phony economic conservative who helped
mislead tea-party Republicans in control of the House of Representatives
this year giving Obama all the money he needed to keep destroying the
free-enterprise system through the end of his term.
It's time to dump Grover Norquist – dump him from the ACU board,
dump him from the NRA board and dump him as the economic guru of the
conservative movement and Republican Party.
For the life of me, I can't even figure out why the left hates him so. He's much more of an ally than they know.
