Fired Cop Accused Of Armed Robbery At A Law Firm Where His Wife Works

HOUSTON --
A former Houston police officer is accused of an armed robbery at the law firm where his wife works.On Monday, a gunman approached an employee of the law firm Rene
Gonzalez and Associates in the 1700 block of Lubbock in the parking lot
and forced her back into the business, court documents state. The
employee was forced into a back office where two other employees were
counting money from the day's collections. The gunman then threw the
first woman to the floor and pointed the gun at the other two workers.The workers told police they were in fear for their lives as the gunman
threatened to shoot them. He took a purple envelope containing more
than $7,800 in cash and fled out the back door.According to
court documents, police viewed surveillance video of the gunman leading
the first victim into the office and identified him as Ray Faustino
Acuna. They further detemined that woman was married to Acuna.Acuna, 26, had been a police officer with the Houston Police Department,
but was relieved of duty on January 17 and resigned on February 2,
according to HPD officials. They say he was relieved of duty due to an
internal affairs investigation which did not result in charges.Acuna is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Bail in the case has been set at $100,000.
