Guns toting pink wig wearing bandit robs gas station

Police are hunting a cross-dressing man in a pink wig who held up a petrol station in Merriwa with two guns on May 6th.

A police spokesman said the man, who wore a blue dress over a pair of jeans and a white shirt, robbed the store and threatened to shoot the customers as he fled the scene.

The armed attack took place at about 9.30pm last night when the man, who police described as 40-50 years old, Caucasian and has facial hair, entered a BP petrol station on the corner of Hester Avenue and Merriwa Street.

He apparently asked for a packet of cigarettes and then withdrew two revolvers.

With his arms spread apart, he allegedly pointed one of the firearms at the service attendant and the other at the customers.

Police said the man then ordered the customers to the back of the store and demanded they lay down on the ground.
