    • @AxisofEvil

The land used to be part of China and was given to Burma in 1962 in a treaty, but the people there didn't want to ruled by Burmese govt.

    • @AxisofEvil the Kachin are not a landless people at all. They are the hill tribes of northern Burma and have lived in this region since the neolithic, they have their own distinct culture and traditions reaching back thousands of years, you dumbfuck. The Kachins have always fought for their state against the southern Kingdoms and Governments. They are ethnically and culturally a completely different people to the lowland Burmese. Stop making up shit you obviously know nothing about!

  • KIA lol.

why are they fighting the army?

    • @yourmaker74 because the Burmese military government in Rangoon wants to exploit the mineral resoruces of this region. Historically the Kachin people have always sought to preserve their independence from the Kingdoms and Governments of lowland Burma, the Kachina are like the Hmong hill tribes of Vietnam, ethnically and culturally different to lowland people. For example a large percentage of Kachin are Christian where as lowland Burmese are mainly Buddhist.

    • @Lake8737 @Lake8737 you are a complete troll, I wonder if you are actually one of the thousands of computer snoops employed by the CCP? Certainly there are ancient cultural ties between the Kachin and China but the Chinese Communist Party would love to see the Kachin Free State gone, not only is it a beacon of democracy they are also feverent Christians and they sit on Chinas border. For the oppressed peoples of Tibet, Inner Mongolia and the Uighur peoples of Xinjiang Region the Kachin Free Stat More..

  • The Kachin tribes people proved hugely useful to British intelligence in WW2 and often gave British troops warning of an encroaching Japanese attack.
