You only get to go through basic once in your life when your young and it stays with you for life. The smells of the gear, the way the air smells, every muscle hurting at the same time all the time. The buddies and the ones who are always last(don't be that guy.) Throwing that first frag and then wanting to watch it go off. The cattle cars going to the range with your new weapon.Later in life you realize what a blessing it was.

@speakamerican Especially when that and the rest of your enlistment leaves you with crippling anxiety attacks for the rest of your life, for which the government pays you 1800 dollars a month, for the rest of your days. Golden parachute deployed.

I'll never forget the day we were introduced to our training DI's. They reminded me of wolves that were getting ready to cull a herd...

That's what every liberal needs, discipline.
The problem with America is that too many adult males are either "girls" or feminist momma boys.

@RomeoTango1 That's fair, but conservatives could use a few extra brain cells you manly man.

@tdez - What we lack in that department helps make a good marriage by marrying a conservative woman who is not only intelligent, wise, hard working, positive and loving, but also amazingly sexy and beautiful.
I'll pit any conservative woman against any liberal woman any day: Palin and Hillary for example or Margaret Thatcher and Whoopi Goldberg.

@RomeoTango1 Although I love me some Whoopi, every conservative post I see is insulting liberals. I guess with your strong stance against development, there's nothing left to do.

@tdez - against development? Pffrrrrttt... that was shallow.
No single government or a sole liberal political body made you a computer, let alone a pencil.
I have nothing against liberals at an individual bases.
But a word from the wise, heed caution to the ignorant masses. They'll accept any lie as long as it feeds them today.
They accepted Hitler, Mao, Stalin and socialist policies like that from O'Bummer and today's Democrat party.

@RomeoTango1 Heed caution to the opportunist masses. They'll create any lie as long as it doesn't make sense. Also they unknowingly argue in favor of their adversaries

My uncle was a Marine D.I. One of the nicest guys you ever met, and didn't seem to mind having a grabastic piece of amphibian shit like me in the family. Almost impossible for me to picture him tearing out new assholes like that.

Thats a re-re-re-re post, but its SUCH a classic that its worth seeing.
I never get tired of that scene.
It was R.Lee Ermey's debut in film. He really was that kind of drill instructor. I hope he made a comfortable living as a result of that peformance.

Actually, his first film appearance was in "The Boys in Company C"--as Marine drill sergeant Loyce.
