It was George Santayana who stated, "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it." This maxim reigns ever true when we assess the current situation in Libya and Egypt. History taught us from the Carter administration that when you depose a leader in the Middle East you must prepare for who fills the void. Today, we find out radical Islamists stand ready to exploit the gap created. A crazed, maniacal, barbaric, and determined genie is out of the bottle...having nothing to do with a stupid Facebook video. This does however have everything to do with a naïve and failed policy of appeasement, reminiscent of Sir Neville Chamberlain. That is why you MUST study history.
