Safe Mode: On
Cleyed the Cyclops, One Eyed Bengal Kitten

We have a Bengal cat that was pregnant and only a day past here due
date. On Thursday October 4th 2012 I brought her into our vet and I am
SO Glad that I did, We have an amazing veterinarian who did the
C-Section procedure and if she didn't..... Mamma Kitty would be dead
now.

All of us in the operating room experienced a VERY RARE once
in a lifetime (Hopefully) kitten births. To start off, both horns of
the uterus were twisted together THREE times. After untwisting the horns
our veterinarian started the surgery and she removed the first baby,
the baby was handed to me and I started drying her off. A vet tech came
in and I handed her the first baby and got the second kitten that our
vet removed....

WOW!!!! He floored me, I was in shock as I have
only seen a picture of a Cyclops kitten like this ONCE ever... and that
was on the internet. He was born alive and survived only a short time.
This was a horribly sad experience, but very intriguing to us all.

A short bit after Cleyed was delivered, the third baby was removed and she was a beautiful healthy baby.

Mom and the two girls are doing WONDERFUL.

  • Was this a result of inbreeding? Most dog breeds have been absolutely wrecked from this practice and I wonder if these rare cat breeds are also suffering the same fate.

  • Poor little guy! I found a little cat in a old Jeep in the back yard about 2 weeks ago it looked like it had a broken foot, it turned 90% to the right under his belly I said fuck that he'll be ok then went in the house...... about an hour and a half later after thinking about the poor thing out there all by himself I got my wife to call the vet and we took him in..It turned out that he had broke his foot and tail when he was a day or two old the vet said the mama could have dropped him or someth More..

  • Oh for fuck sakes with this music. Plllleaaase. I was waiting for someone to say: for only .03 cents a day you can save a child..... Sad but not nearly as dramatic as it was intended to be.

  • Poor little Cleyed. At least he didn't suffer. Alobar holoprosencephaly is scary-looking but is rare and usually crops up spontaneously. In other words, nothing the owner did caused it. Hell, they even found it in a shark pup once.
