questions regarding space exploration

The Van Allen radiation belt is a very violet and dangerous region. How will we conquer this obstacle in order to achieve manned mars missions? Why is this rarely mentioned?

  • From http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html#radiation

Bad: A big staple of the HBs is the claim that radiation in the van Allen Belts and in deep space would have killed the astronauts in minutes. They interview a Russian cosmonaut involved in the USSR Moon program, who says that they were worried about going in to the unknowns of space, and suspected that radiation would have penetrated the hull of the spacecraft.

Good: Kaysing's exact words in the program are ``Any human being More..

this is a great explanation, meat will not cook if you leave it in the microwave for only an hour or so...really? Simply being in the belt for minutes spells death.
the levels of radiation in the belt are unmatched to what we have here on earth. couple this with the bogus footage of the landing and the fact that all thses decades have passed and we never returned. No other country have gone to the moon. We even went as far as to try to send rovers (unmammed) to mars. With the lea More..

      - quote of the day -

"The claim that radiation exposure during the Apollo missions would have been fatal to the astronauts is only one example of such nonsense." -- Dr. James Van Allen

  • A single nuclear blast created a new Van Allen belt that is still too radioactive to pass through safely? Bullshit, these boobs have no sense of scale. A nuclear explosion is a pin prick on the earth. What about all of the nuclear tests that have occurred on Earth itself. Utter garbage.

there is nothing in space like an atmosphere to contain the explosion.

  • Most of this is crap, but not the Starfish Prime stuff.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfish_Prime

It did create a new radiation belt, although it faded away after five years or so.
