Last Footage of Caroline Coyne (Murdered)
CCTV captured a mother-of-two's last moments as she walked the streets alone before she was allegedly stalked and killed.

Caroline Coyne was filmed by cameras in Thorneywood Mount, Thorneywood, where
her body was found hours later.
Police recovered the footage as they pieced together the 28-year-old's
movements leading up to her death.
They found Ms Coyne, of Top Valley, and her alleged attacker, Carl Powell, had
been in the same area. She was walking quickly, say prosecuting lawyers, and
Powell appeared to be walking after her.
A sequence of clips of Ms Coyne and Powell were shown to jurors at his trial at
Nottingham Crown Court yesterday. The soundless recordings were played on
flat-screen televisions.
The last time Ms Coyne was seen on the footage she was 180 metres from where
her body was found, on a path by a house in Thorneywood Mount in July last
year.
Footage from a police car retracing Ms Coyne's final steps from the Punch Bowl
pub in Porchester Road, Mapperley, to the street where she was found was shown
to the jury.
Ms Coyne and the defendant had been standing together for a short time near
that pub.
She was captured on camera later that morning leaving Porchester Road and going
into Thorneywood Mount. She had been walking quickly when she came into view
and appeared to break into a jog.
It is alleged Powell appeared to be walking after her with his hood down. The
next time they came into view, Ms Coyne had crossed the road.
The defendant was now on the opposite side of the road to her, but parallel to
her, and allegedly looking directly at her. At 1.22 that morning, Powell was
filmed on CCTV running in the opposite direction, with the hood of his coat
raised. Prosecutors say Powell was fleeing the scene having attacked Ms Coyne.
Roy Fletcher found her body outside his home at 8.40am.
A recording was made by police of the scene and the path where Ms Coyne lay
covered by a blanket. A post-mortem examination found she died from head
injuries.
Powell denies murdering Ms Coyne.
He is also alleged to have attacked a second woman in the early hours of August
24 last year. He denies false imprisonment, false imprisonment with intent to
commit a sexual offence and sexual assault in relation to this woman, a
21-year-old who had been out with a friend.
Powell, 23, of Carlton, is alleged to have put his hands around her throat and
dragged her into the grounds of the City College site, in Carlton Road.
CCTV was shown of them out separately that night in Nottingham and later of them
walking up Carlton Road.

Poor girl.
Why oh why oh why do people put themselves in danger? Early morning, empty streets, drunk, incapable of defending herself. The women's lib movement have a lot to answer for.

@Argh I understand where you are coming from, really.
But fuck, I don't want to live on a planet where a woman (or man..) can't walk down the road at anytime of the day or night without the chance of being fucking murdered.

@edgecrusher187 That's why people should be allowed to arm themselves. either that or learn some martial art.

What's interesting is that CCTV was the key evidence in this case. A lot of people mention 1984 and big brother watching over every move we make, the end of freedom , but so far the only people that have to worry about it is the criminals. This pos would not have been caught if it were not for the CCTV . Sadly this douchebag is not in Texas.

@soilentgreene If she had been armed it would've turned out differently. Fear is no reason to give into further government control!

@journeyman083 Be serious, she would not have been armed, even if guns were legal.
If she had not walked alone in the middle of the night.........

@soilentgreene I am being serious. This wasn't in America, so if it had been, she could have been armed. Fear is no reason to give into government fear mongering. Besides, she could of killed him instead of having tax payers pay for his time in prison. Government should be small as possible. I have one father and mother, I don't need any other. They're full of people looking out for their own interests and not those they're to serve. The police were of no use to this woman, her cries went unhear More..

@journeyman083 I don't want to get into politics on this one, i'm just saying that CCTV has its benefits for the law abiding citizen, common sense and caution should still be used by people because crazies don't think of consequences. As for tax payers paying for Whatever, when was the last time someone from the govmnt came to you and asked you how your taxes should be spent?

@soilentgreene Sure cctv has benefits but too much power is never good. Those in government have never asked how our taxes should be spent. So we have to ask them. We have to remember that they serve us. It's us that has the power and if we stand together we'll be an unstoppable force. The important laws seem to not be enforced and then there's too many laws. We just need to return to our roots.

First off, I hope the cops get into trouble for this. AT THE VERY LEAST, they could have called a taxi for her AND WAITED WITH HER. 2nd of all, I hope the bus driver gets in trouble. Why would see a woman in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AND NOT STOP????
I am so sorry for her kids. They have to grow up without a mom because of a monster.

@paulc07 Yes. I'm reminded of an episode of Star Trek Voyager. The murderer would be implanted with something from the other person where they would relive the last moments of that person's life.
Experiencing the fear, terror, etc. I think that would be great punishment if it were possible.

Th sad part is, there will always be people like this scumbag so there will always be danger out there. We will never live in a utopia like some would love. There will always be the good, the bad and the insane.
