On April 13, 1943, Nazi Germany announced the discovery of mass graves in the Katyn forest near Smolensk, Russia. The bodies of around 4,400 men, whose hands had been bound and who had been shot from behind, were found buried there. The deceased were mostly Polish officers. The Nazis realized the Soviet Union was responsible for the massacre and attempted to use this knowledge to their advantage. The Germans hoped the revelation would alienate the USSR from its allies, Great Britain, the United States–and Poland.

    • @Daivodabest I don't know that improvement is inevitable or a function of just time. Early Islam dominated science and particularly astronomy and mathematics then around the 12th century it took a huge dump thanks to the strictures of one asshole. It has NEVER recovered. How do you undo rigid dogma that violently attacks any attempt to undo itself? The same rigid dogma that took Islam from leader to zero in the sciences is not likely to nurture a renaissance.

    • @dorbie i don't have the answers but i think when nations think it is ok to completely wipe out another i don't think we can be called humans.
      some people would kill them all if they could. i think if even 1% of them want to live in peace that the 1% has a right for their voices to be heard
