So I'm bored again waiting to load some crap on the truck (wheat mids). Here's what the mirrors look like from the cab of a big truck. Not really many blind spots on mine with 7 mirrors. The window in the door is a fisheye lens. So I can see pretty well driving this thing and there's not much excuse for running over a small car, unfortunately.
This big hanging thing with the auger in it that I shouldn't be playing with is how my truck is loaded at this place. I lower that canopy down, turn it on, and the auger turns with the wheat is pushed through it. When it piles up high enough, it holds the wheat in the auger and pushes it farther along.
Yes it can run it right off the back of the truck, I've had to shovel up a couple piles of it. Then you get to take a wheelbarrow full of this crap down to dump it in the nastiest dumpster you've ever seen or smelled in your life until it's all cleaned up. Also bad if you forget to open the tarp before you turn the thing on cause it will quite happily dump a pile right on top of the tarp which you then have to shovel off by hand.
No, I didn't set that alarm off. I dunno what it is but it goes off pretty regularly. I usually sit at this place for a couple hours waiting to get in the gate and then it takes an hour and 15 minutes from the time you turn the machine on until the truck is full. Boring as fuck but there's snot many job where you can sleep half the day and not get in trouble for it.

Is it wheat dust that can explode? I don't recall... Some may criticize but I liked it, I like seeing all the different jobs that are out there, even being a dishwasher would be cool to do, for a few hours anyway. In your case, having a bunch of mirrors is a lot better than having to jump out of the truck constantly to check for clearance. Drive safe and have some fun, and make some money.

@teccec
Any grain dust can explode. Any dust made up of flammable particles, mixed with the right amount of air, may just as well be propane or the like. It takes about the same amount of spark or heat to set off. And unlike a gas, the dust itself can develop a static charge when stirred up, and ignite when that discharges.
I did some electronic design work that involved explosion-proof circuitry and enclosures. My work was all about flammable solvents, but the same design standards apply More..

@teccec Yeah, that's why there's no smoking allowed down there, though I do anyway (in the truck with the windows up.) I've been a dishwasher too at a couple places. I always ended up ignoring the schedule and just coming in all the time. I'd have more overtime than anyone there. Making minimum wage but my checks would average out to $10 an hour or better and that was well over a decade ago.

pretty cool, is that a companies truck or yours? i use to drive school buses and it looks like the mirrors and shit are the exact same minus that cool one above the passenger window. im always thinking about getting my class a up from a B, but the dmv tests just give me a headache with their "tricky" wordings.

@theonlyepi Yeah, it's a company truck. The tests only look hard. Just study the book for an hour or two, and you can study each section and take the short test on that section only, then go read the next section, etc. Also if you take the test on their computers instead of paper, you can skip the confusing questions. Those get shuffled to the back but you pass as soon as you answer the minimum right so you probably won't have to answer the ones you skip at all.

Nice. I like vids like this one.
That's a lot of wheat. It must give chills to the gluten-intolerant among us. ;-)
