These two by Ike Seamans show the first two days of the 1986 Jerusalem trial of John Demjanjuk, AKA Ivan the Terrible, a Cleveland auto worker who immigrated to the US after WWII. He was deported to Israel in 1986 to stand trial for war crimes,identified by Holocaust survivors as "Ivan the Terrible", a notorious prisoner/guard (KAPO) at the Treblinka and Sobibor extermination camps. He was convicted for crimes against humanity but the verdict was overturned by the Israeli Supreme Court in 1993 due to a finding of reasonable doubt. .In 2009, he was deported from the US to Germany where he was charged as an accessory to murder for each person who died at Sobibor . Sentenced to 5 years in prison, he was later released pending appeal, and is now living in a German nursing home.

  • Wow. That takes me back. Back to a time when the mainstream media was mostly credible and could be counted on not to inject liberal bias into every story. They did it only on a few stories, typically about favored leftist groups like enviros and anti-nuke protesters, instead of every goddamn story like today.
