There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part,
including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back
into the room saying 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have and/or send?'

You could have heard a pin drop.

Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.

'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically.

Mr.Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.

'Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.'

The American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.

'Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in France !'

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, 'Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

You could have heard a pin drop.

  • Very jealous of the 4th of July. Its a historical point where a nation can remember its roots and how it was forged. Can look at the past, to the present and then forward to the future. France has Bastille Day 14th July. Abkhazia has independence day on the 4th of July too. Even Liberia has Independence day 26th July from the United States.

Poor Australia just has Australia day. 26th January. We were forged by an act of Parliament 1st Jan 1901. No blood no sweat, no tears. Just a politician. More..

Despite of all, Australia has been one of our most loyal allies. Your soldiers and service members have died and fought along side our soldiers. You should not feel embarrased, and also Australia is very beautiful country with nice beaches.

    • @MikeNovember Feel free to fuck off to one of those other countries you know so much about if you are embarrassed to be Aussie. You cunt.

    • @pauliec17 Never said I was embarrassed to be an Aussie. I am proud to Australian.

Having nationalism about your own country, makes you appreciate other countries. Being understanding of other countries, makes you appreciate you're own country.

I am embarrassed by Bogans like you. Pity I can't leave bottom dwellers like you behind.

I have nothing against the French. I've spent time there and I know that there are many pleasant and nice people and others who treat Yanks quite rudely. C'est la vie.

The quotes above are not jokes. These are real situations and dialogue between real people. I have others but these two I chose. No offence.

We also give thanks to the French for helping us win our liberty against the British...and for Lady Liberty herself.

Happy 4th of July to you, too.

  • Hooah! Being an immigrant some people don't know how great they have it living in this country. I am a disabled Army veteran who lost some mobility of my left leg. I served in Afghanistan and Iraq and I don't regret anything. Many of the other veterans had it way worst then us some sacrificing their lives. Happy fourth. Stay safe.

  • I am proud to be an American and I HOPE WE CAN CHANGE what we endured for the last three and a half years.

I greatly appreciate the sacrifices the people who served in the Armed Forces and the sacrifices their families have made too. Don’t forget our brothers and sisters on the thin blue line and the firefighters too.

If you appreciate your freedom let all of the people listed above know it. Stop, walk over and tell them “thank you” for what they do for us all. Most of all; really mea More..
