Al Gore's Standing Ovation At The Emmys
Al Gore added an Emmy to the Oscar he picked up in February for his global-warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth. The former vice president received a standing ovation as his fledgling cable network and online video venture Current TV received a non-competitive award for creative achievement in interactive television.
"We are trying to open up the television medium so that viewers can help them make television and join the conversation of democracy and reclaim American democracy by talking about the choices we have to make," Gore told the audience of 6,000 gathered at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown Los Angeles.
