it's actually one of the only beers I don't mind warm.
Black Butte Porter is another.
In fact one of my faves on a late night is a third pint glass of coffee, preferably good coffee and not the crap they serve in bars, topped off with Black Butte or Guinness.
The flavors mix well and you get the caffeine kick ;o)

Don't think they are drinking it for the taste buddy.
Then they shouldn't be drinking Guinness. It has one of the lowest alcohol contents out of any popular beer.
