A family dog has been hailed as a hero for apparently averting a tragedy by saving a Michigan toddler from drowning in a pool over the weekend.
Patricia Drauch, 30, of Marcellus, told deputies that on Sunday, she had been walking to her garage to get a shovel with her 14-month-old son, Stanley, waddling behind her.
When she reached her destination, Drauch turned around and discovered that her son was gone. Moments later, she found to her horror the little boy floating face-up in the family pool, Wood TV reported.
Freighting scene: Patricia Drauch (left) said she was going to her garage with her son, Stanley (right), in tow when the toddler vanished
Humble hero: Drauch said she found her son in the family pool floating face-up, with Bear the lab heroically holding the boy on its back out of the water
She told officials from the Cass County Sheriff's Department that by that point, Stanley appeared to be blue.
Amazingly, Bear, the family’s four-year-old black Labrador, was also in the pool, propping the toddler on its back and out of the water.
Drauch immediately pulled her unresponsive son from the water. She tried to call 911, but said she could not get cell phone reception.
The frantic mother then scooped up Stanley, jumped in her car and headed to the Marcellus Fire Department, which is about two miles from her Maple Street home.
While on the road, Drauch was able to get through to 911, and as she was describing her emergency to the dispatcher, Stanley regained consciousness.
Remarkable: Bear, the four-year-old black lab, was praised for saving his owner's young son from drowning in the family pool
The 30-year-old soon arrived at the fire department, where first responders examined Stanley, who was conscious, alert and in good condition.
The toddler was taken to Three Rivers Health by his parents, where he was treated and released a short time later.
Cass County Undersheriff Rick Behnke said though there were no witnesses to the dog’s purported miraculous rescue, authorities did find vomit in Drauch’s car, which is consistent with what happens when water is ingested and then expelled.
‘From the information we have, it seems to pan out,’ Behnke told Wood TV. ‘It's an amazing story. The dog is a lifesaver. That's all I can say.’
Checkup: After Stanley came to, his parents took him to Three Rivers Health, where the toddler was treated and released

They are mandatory requirement over here. Local authorities fly over your property to see if you have a pool and then come inspect it to make sure it complies with the regulations. If it don't...A hefty fine will help sort things out.

Just does not sit well with me this story....no idea why but seems to be bullshit...
Need to find out the reason for making the dog the hero and diverting the attention away from something else......otherwise goodwork dog.

Mmm! I wonder what the cat lovers had to say about this
And I have a furball as well (ok! Not my cat, my g/f cat) but if I had to choose between a dog and a cat... I'll take ANY dog a hundred times over ANY cat! Sorry, but that's my complete and honest truth!

@reggie001 Thank goodness. Some of the old stuff is really grainy but I still like watching the original sec-cam video of Simeon and Levi doing their thang and Samson killing five thousand asses with the jawbone of a Philistine.

When i was younger our dog would never let me and my sister get too close to the shore when we went to the river...he would always bark and get between us and the water and sometimes even snatch the back of your bathing suit in his teeth and pull us back...it was funny at the time when we were kids but i hate to think we made my poor old dog a nervous wreck everytime we went to the river.

@LBJFRWY Up yours fag, did democrats invade Iraq under a false pretext, leading to the death of hundreds of American heroes? Fuck the Republican Party, they think they stand for America, when in fact they stand for big buisness and heartless government at the expense of the American people.
