IT'S a view of the slopes most of us never get to see.



News.com.au has captured a stunning 24-hour time-lapse of Perisher Valley from locations that most skiers have never had the privilege of experiencing - and at times most people aren't allowed to be around.



From 4.30am the empty ski fields roar into life as Matt Klemm and his team get to work armed with multi-million dollar snow grooming machines.



Tonnes of snow are pushed back up the slopes and smoothed over to create the corduroy - the tiny undulations of snow that make the runs soft and desirable.



Then it’s up to the top of Pretty Valley by the mid-station chair lift, where scores of seats hang stationary and the atmosphere is solitary, silent and calm.



Next is the highest point on Olympic for a truly stunning sunrise shedding pink light across the new snow. The whirring snow machines down in the valley can't be heard from up here. They create a pinky-red hue, a curtain of snowflakes en masse among the gumtrees.



In a couple of hours the scene changes dramatically. Tourists start to pour in to the slopes on the sunny Saturday, and it quickly becomes as busy as Flinders or Pitt streets on a massive shopping day.



The mood is upbeat - everyone's looking for a good time. The slopes remain busy well into the night.
