  • Memo to UC Davis researchers: Jays will do this with many dead creatures in the woods. Big game hunters use the noise to locate game when they return with the pack horses.

  • Let us all bow our heads and say a prayer for our fallen fellow comrade, Tweety.

Oh great winged one in the sky
Please guide our beloved into your feather breast
Let not his spirit fall prey to the cat demons
And join you in eternal paradise in the birdfeeder in the sky

  • If you found a dead human a metre away from your dinner you would probably want to tell someone as well.

  • interesting.
    Shout out to the dead?
    A farewell?

Jays are freaky birds, had a baby blue jay land on the roof of my garage, fell out of the tree and couldn't fly.
Watched as mom or dad swooped around coxing the chick to do something?????
It jumped off the roof and ran around like crazy!
I tried to 'scooch' it out of the alley and mom/dad went fucking nuts!!!
Decided to let Darwin do his work and drove away.

  • there are several varieties of birds that do this ... magpies and i've heard crows go at it if one is injured on the ground... and swallows go apeshit with their dive-bombing anything that comes close to the body on the ground.

  • Did the genius who posted this really go through the trouble of stuffing a dead bird to try to prove that birds call out to each other when they see a fellow species member?

  • Maybe they suspect the seed is poisoned now, and that the dead jay died from eating it.

One question: Why would anybody want to mindfu*k birds like this?
