Pinky Pramanik, an Indian gold medalist female athlete who went out to win several gold medals, got her real gender revealed as it turned out that she was a male. Court after reviewing the medical reports confirmed that Pinky was a male Pseudo-hermaphrodite.




The issue got its initial attention in July 2012 when Pramanik was arrested after accusations by her 32-year old female friend of rape and of being male. Pinky denied the allegations earlier stating that her training to compete in international athletics made her look more towards the masculine side.




Results of medical reports issued on 12 November 2012 confirmed that Pinky was a male rather than a female. According to the head of the Medical Board, the report has been submitted within the District Session Court. Meanwhile, the investigating officer added that a case has been filed against the 26 year old athlete for fraud and scam.




Pinky won a gold medal in 2006 while representing India in the Asian Games 4 x 400 meter relay event. She also won three gold medal within different events within the 2006 South Asian Games held in Colombo.
