Dick Cheney has been entitled as 'the worst US vice president' in the country's history, according to a new poll ahead of his exit.
According to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Monday, 23% of those questioned say that Cheney is the country's worst veep compared with his predecessors.
The poll also showed that 41% said that he was a poor vice president and 34% rated him as a good vice president.
Cheney was one of the most influential vice presidents in US history and had an important role in the Bush administration's main policies despite his unpopularity, CNN said. He was a major proponent of using and expanding executive powers.
Earlier, the vice president said in an interview with Fox News that he was not troubled by polls suggesting he was unpopular.
"I'm very comfortable with where we are and what we achieved substantively. And frankly, I would not want to be one of those guys who spend all his time reading the polls. I think people like that shouldn't serve in these jobs," said Cheney.
Confirming his public disapproval, Cheney in an interview with Washington Times on Monday defended the practice that CIA interrogators subjected 33 detainees to harsh interrogation techniques.
The vice president was not apologetic about the use of harsh techniques, which he admitted he 'signed off on'.
The survey was conducted Friday through Sunday, with 1,013 adult Americans questioned by telephone.

Why would he care what the people think? It's not like he works for them.

In bizzaro-land
-unpopularity means you're doing something right.
-intelligence is elitism
-visualizing having a beer with someone is more important than ability
-facts are dangerous
-science is less important than faith.
-nothing is wrong if your side does it.

Polls are mostly worthless and driven by the media, which is the most partisan in this country;s history. I am sure that a similar poll will give the prophet the highest rating or any president-elect in history. Just you wait and see. lol

Of course he isn't troubled by it. Some people have principles. Principles are not subject to the whims of popularity.
You should be a Democrat if what you care about is shallow fads and fashions. Ask Obama.
