I only regret I probably won't be around when oil becomes all but obsolete.
It'll be sweet to watch those middle eastern pigs transform into afterbirth on the rubble heap of history.

@slightlypsychotic Some Americans just find it funny to pick on Canadians. I think it's cuz our money is colored, we say shit differently, winter is cold, we like hockey, Quebec, bacon, our football field is larger, lower tuition, less poverty, free health care, no black cities (slums) AKA There is no Detroit, our President is a 'Prime Minister', incomes are higher, we say 'eh', but so do Americans so I don't get the big fucking deal and we don't have honey boo boo but rather a bunch of durka-fu More..

Brought to you by GE, the company who's CEO Jeff Immelt wrote the rules effectively banning the incandescent lightbulb and brought countles tons of toxic mercury in CFL bulbs into American homes and landfills. Of course, GE makes those, in China. GE has also been shipping more and more production to China, including rather recently medical device manufacture. At the same time, though GE makes Billions in profit by exploiting Chinese slave labor, they pay zero taxes in the US.

@cameltoegunner Thanks. I'd vote for your comment if I could. There is a lot of this kind of thing going. The idea was to let manufacturing go overseas where it was cheaper but keep the R&D in the US since the idea was that it was the R&D that made money not actually making the products. Not so much really. Something else the free traders forgot is that R&D works best when it is near the production floor so the designers can personally talk to the production engineers to refine the i More..

@airhammer Not yet. LED's are very expensive at present and have some issues with heat. In a few more years these problems will be solved and costs will drop. Until then the store shevles are packed with CFL's and people are buying them.

To all the naysayers:
The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2010 was awarded to Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov at the University of Manchester for their discovery and research into the properties of Graphene.
The European Union, just this month, has given Nokia a grant of 1.3 Billion Euro's to develop Graphene.
Researchers, within the last few months, have already successfully grown defect-free graphene, commercial uses now appear to be in sight.

Inb4 the oil companies make sure it doesn't effect their sales, with electric cars, by buying off everyone that has anything to do with Graphene.

If oil company's are so worried by electric cars ..why do we have electric cars?
If oil company's are so worried by an alternative fuel...why don't they invest/buy out alternative fuel researchers ( They have/do..it's called business, there is no profit in killing off something that everybody wants, especially when you can own it and market it ).
Conspiracy theorist's have little or no grasp of the World in which we actually inhabit...If everything was powered by wind turbines sta More..
