  • Even though many Dutch use the bicycle to go to work, they have the highest costs of all Europeans on cars in form of taxes and excises. Due to the green and socialists parties.

And still the same socialist and green parties want to ban cars from cities and want to introduce more taxes for bigger cars. Therefore they use the 'co2 emissions' bullshit story to force the Dutch into small cars and on bicycles. The same government administrators of these parties who will write these new rules will More..

  • As a Dutchman, I am proud of our paths, but also sidewalks.
Cyclists and walkers have a privileged position in the Netherlands as traffic participants.

  • It helps a lot that Holland is mostly plain, no big hills to climb. It would be impossible to achieve that in other places.

    • @12obert_G Amsterdam has very little car parking ... people ride a bike to work because they can keep a bike in their flat/house/appartment and there will be a safe place to lock it ... the trains all have a carriage just for bikes etc etc ... personally I lived in 'Dam for a bit and never even thought about buying a vehicle other than a bike ... the cycle paths between towns are not even next to the roads so you can travel between towns without fear of being knocked off ... also their laws mean More..
