Safe Mode: On
Street Artist Wanted By The NYPD For Fake Drone Ads

I think flying drones over American cities is a WONDERFUL idea !...you could hire them out for wedding parties...

His name is ‘Essam’ and he’s a 29-year-old art school grad from Maine, who served in Iraq as a “geo-spatial analyst”, and has put up posters all over New York. It shows drones being used to police regular people in an Orwellian world… with the NYPD logo plastered all over it, as if to endorse it. The NYPD wants him arrested, he wants to let people know the scariness of drones.

  • There is just something magnificent about rebellious art. Like a scathing Rock Song it sears the very consciousness of those that perpetrate against it.

As proof, just look at their reaction and it only serves to validate the premise in the first place.

  • The most they could get him for is littering...

Then again the cops can get away with anything now days thanks to the 'patriot act'. They have the power to arrest any one, any time for no reason and hold them for as long as they want.

Nazi America is here, and it is here to stay unless you do something about it.

    • @sungam I always interpreted the 'Patriot Act' as the 'Paranoid Act' anyway!

People think they're safe under this Act but it's no worse than Socialist East Germany when a whispering campaign against you would have the Stasi in and out of your house, bugging it and grabbing you when they chose to interrogate you over nothing but Chinese Whispers because your neighbours have taken a disliking to you for some reason.

  • Art at its best. Freedom of speech at its best. Challenge authority, challenge the viewer, make them think. Short circuit the boiling frog effect.

  • These drones are unarmed so why should I give a fuck if I'm not doing anything wrong. This is probably a cheaper alternative to European surveillance camera in every corners.

    • @tai Mai Shu "why should I give a fuck if I'm not doing anything wrong."

If you give me six lines written by the hand of the most honest of men, I will find something in them which will hang him. - Richelieu

    • @tai Mai Shu Because when they were first used in the military they were unarmed as well.

  • How long before the computers take over and turn all this shit against us anyway.
With drones and 3d printers and the Boston dynamics robots.
    We are fucked.

  • Very Banksy-ish but just a little threatening due to the level of paranoia that courses thru the veins of New York and general America.

People will cry 'Big Brother' & '1984' but you're already living in a police state with a carefully marketed amount of 'freedom' to boot to make you feel like a free citizen, whilst all along your every move, purchase and generally everything you do is logged. Your smartphone GPS can be switched on & off at will by intelligence to see where you're going More..
