WILMINGTON (CBS 3) ― A man was arrested after police say he beat his former foster mother and her son with a hammer in Delaware Friday morning.
Isaiah Walker, 20, is facing several charges after the beating of a 78-year-old female and her 58-year-old son.
According to police, a family member arrived at the home in the unit block of West 39th Street in Wilmington and found both victims bleeding and unconscious. That family member immediately called police.
Both victims were taken to Christiana Hospital where they are listed in critical condition. A preliminary investigation revealed that both victims were beaten with a hammer.
After conducting interviews, Walker was identified as a person of interest in the attack. About an hour after the attack, officers spotted Walker driving a car near 12th & Washington Streets. Officers stopped the car and Walker was taken into custody without incident.
Walker has been charged with (2) counts of Attempted Murder First Degree, (2) counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Burglary First Degree, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Non Compliance of Condition of Bail.
Police said Walker had an active no contact order filed by one of the victims in May of 2009.
The incident remains under investigation by Wilmington Police.
