36-year-old Norfolk man charged in granddaughter's death
NORFOLK - A 36-year-old Norfolk man was arrested last night and charged in the death earlier this week of his 1-year-old granddaughter.
Naeem An-Nafi is charged with murder. His granddaughter, Symone An-Nafi, was pronounced dead at a local hospital on Monday night after police removed her from the home on Barney Street where she lived with her grandfather and other family members.
Police spokesman Chris Amos did not disclose the nature of the medical call that prompted police and paramedics to remove the child, and he said detectives are not discussing the cause of death.
Amos said the case was initially listed as an undetermined death, but the preliminary investigation led it to be classified as a homicide.

I do my best not to let the racial attitude of my upbringing cloud my judgment. I live in Norfolk and It does seem like the majority of violent crime here is committed by African Americans. I moved away from the area to NE PA from 2000 to 2005 It seemed very weird to me to see the news there and the reports on violent crime being committed primarily by whites.
