Texas facing stripper shortage leading up to Packers-Steelers Super Bowl XLV @ Cowboys Stadium - 01-29-2011
Texas is looking for a few good women in time for the Super Bowl.
TMZ.com reported that some strip clubs surrounding Cowboys Stadium are looking for an additional 10,000 girls to entertain the overwhelming crowds expected during the Packers-Steelers matchup.
According to the website, Arlington city officials are expecting 300,000 visitors over Super Bowl weekend.
John Walsh, the manager of one local strip club, Showtime Cabaret, told the website he's looking for another 100-120 dancers that week.
"I mean we're not just hiring anyone," one woman who answered the phone at the club said. "They have to meet the right criteria."
Other strip clubs in surrounding areas said, like many businesses, they're psyched for the additional traffic - but certainly aren't going on hiring sprees.
At the Clubhouse in Dallas, a manager who declined to give his name told the Daily News that he is expecting increased traffic and is willing to hire additional women who come in - but doesn't have a blank check for new employees.
The club, he said, is planning to show the Super Bowl and provide a buffet to fans coming down to the area.
"There's just so many clubs in the area, we just have to compete," he told The News, adding that with so many peep clubs in the area it's an oversaturated business.
While the weekend might be good for the dollar-bill girls, Super Bowls are infamous for being bastions of prostitution and human trafficking. A rally in Irving, Tex., is scheduled for Friday night by an international organization, Love146, to draw attention to the problem.
The group is holding the rally as part of "It's not my fault" campaign, which is meant to increase awareness of sex trafficking
