Burned Body Found, OD Killed Woman

UTICA, Mich.

- An autopsy concludes a drug overdose killed a 22-year-old woman, whose burning body set fire to an abandoned building in Detroit.

Utica police Detective Sgt. David Faber tells The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens the Wayne County medical examiner's office used dental records to confirm the remains found March 24 were those of Debra Maccario.

Detroit fire Capt. Mark Varnas tells The Detroit News an autopsy found large amounts of drugs in Maccario's system and ruled her death an overdose. Investigators say her body was intentionally set on fire.

Detroit police found Maccario's burned car two blocks away.

Faber says Maccario left home March 23 and never returned. Her mother called police, who began a search for her.
