Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams, a West Texas kid and former UT football player, has talked to his lawyers after his breakup with his ex-girlfriend, onetime Miss Texas Brooke Daniels, originally from Tomball. Their marriage plans fizzled in February and he wants the ring back, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
He is suing for the $76,000 engagement ring along with a recorded marriage proposal he mailed to her, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The Sentinel says:
Roy Williams claimed in a signed affidavit that Brooke Daniels said she lost the engagement ring several weeks after she turned down his just-say-yes-to-the-express mail proposal. An investigation from Williams’ insurance company determined Daniels’ father, Michael, had the ring in his possession.
Michael Daniels said he has proof showing that Roy Williams told his daughter Brooke she could keep the ring, but will ship it back to his daughter’s former live-in lover to avoid court. (Perhaps, that NFL lockout changed Williams’ mind).Cowboys Roy Williams Wants Ring Back

I think traditionally if the marriage didn't happen the bride to be was to keep the ring?

It was a gift. The law is very clear on the fact that she doesn't have to give it back if she doesn't want to. It is Williams who is a no-class, trailer trash, red-neck. He asked for his gift back. You can't get much more douche bag than that.

@Stranger456
Actually it is a conditional gift upon marriage. No marriage no gift. The law is quite clear upon this.

Unfornutally he is wrong. Although it is a state to state issue most states clearly say that it is a conditional gift. no marriage, no gift.

this guy proposed through the mail, sending the ring and his taped proposal via the mail. what woman, other than in out of this world circumstances would want to be proposed to like that?
hell yes she should give the guy his ring back, but this has to be the tackiest proposal of all time.

@IIVXTII grats on the first post! there'll be plenty of time for practice. trial and error, then waiting for a mod to put it up, feature it, list it as a repost or deny it for some unknown reason. all sorts of things happen, but it's all good. cheers!
