Big powers in this era of advnaced techlological development are, in the name of “democracy” and “terror threats”, indeed battlng for securing energy resources. Obvioulsy, West Asia and Central Asia are the most fertile zones with energy reosurces in abundnce.

      Yeah he pretty much touches upon all of the issues that Ahmed Rashid does in his books. Definitely a good read though. The more articles/books to compare and contrast in order to come to a sound understanding, the better :) Check out a company called Bridas based in Argentina and their involvement in Afghanistan ;)Bridas and UNOCAL tried to woo the Taliban into helping them ensure protection of a pipeline that would travel through PAK/AFGH.
