If you find you’re running a little low on hope these days, this inspiring video by Michael Maranz will pick you up in a heartbeat. Liveleak is a great place. From cooking uploads to Yoursays, from decapitated bodies to Russian Dashcam Traffic accidents,Wars and rumors of Wars. There is never a shortage of grief and misery from Mother Nature or Human involvement...Liveleak has it all, but Liveleak sometimes falls short in the Inspire Department. Lets change it up a bit, slow things down and reflect on who and what we are as humans. Each of us in our own indomitable spirit has the ability to change things. From volunteering to challenging ourselves to achieve greatness.
I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you.~Neil deGrasse Tyson
The Future is ours. Our time is now.
Life is like a horse. If it throws you, you either get back on and ride the hell out of it or stand behind it and shovel.

UFO The Journey is it Real or Not ?

Every technology will be hijacked and used to oppress everyone. Psychopaths who want power will use it to get it, as they always have. Companies will use it to shove ads in your face. Every means of communication is riddled with ads. It started with people telling you in person. Then they wrote it on signs and walls, then they put it in newspapers, then they sent it to you in the mail, then the called you up on the telephone, then they put them all over the internet, then they send you textmessa More..

This is so true. There is no money in cures only medicine to allow one to live with a disease so that the insurance companies can pay the pharmaceutical companies. Lobyists of major corporations squash ideas and laws that could open possibilities to alternative medicine, fuel, power, etc. Those who have the money decide where technology will be used and to what extent so that they will benefit from it.

@wellybub That's why Thomas Jefferson was a Luddite before his time...looked at the cities and industry and Europe and thought, we don't want any of that over here, man will do best to stick to farming...

@rugbybloke25 Plus corporations crush new ideas...the Energy sector has been buying patents that could compete with big oil for decades, copyrighting them and shutting them down
You wonder if the patronage system wasn't the best environment for science to blossom

I'm a bit skeptical about promoting technology as our key to future happiness. Except for some medical applications, technology is the cause of our alienation and our poverty and unhappiness.
It may sound outrageous but high tech makes infirms of us all.
So I wouldn't say this is uplifting. The promises of high tech leave me cold. To make me feel good about the future and our power as individuals, I'd rather hear stories of courage and moral integrity. Those would renew hope in the human race an More..

We allow technology to cause our alienation, poverty, unhappiness, etc. Imagine a world where technology was used to create and make life easier rather than destroy each other. Crazy I know. Dream world.

@rugbybloke25 What do you mean "make life easier"? If you accept society as it is and think tech would make it better you're not on the right track imho.
Plus, "easy" is not a solid value. Nothing valuable was ever easily conquered. Easiness has been promoted as desirable and people have become extremely lazy thinking everything should be easy so they don't think anything is worth it for them to bust their butt to achieve.
But personally anything easy repels me. Easy is for d More..

@khamomil Due to technology we lose skills every day...man has forgotten so, so much in the last few decades
Beautiful craftmanship and forms of creativity learned over centuries and forgotten in a generation, which can't be re-created, not to mention the demise of the oral tradition

@ElegantDecline Yes, but there is a movement to reverse this trend before old skills disappear forever. This is something that gives me hope. At the eleventh hour young people want to learn from the very old how they did things and the old are happy to transmit their knowledge just before dying.
You can check out for instance the art and craft of shoe-making on YT. The amount of videos on just this subject is staggering.

Technology is a tool that can be used to help the world be a better place. Im not saying make everything so damn easy that we all end up like the fat people on Wall-E in hover chairs attached to portable tvs and never stepping a foot on new frontiers. But it doesn't make sense to chisel out your ideas onto a stone when you have a pen and paper. Know what I mean?

Technology can be used to create or destroy. Humanity is more likely to take the latter approach. Only in the last two generations have we reached the point where we can destroy all life on earth. It had been impossible up until then. Given our species character flaws, its just a matter of time.

Unfortunately for TED, it has in attendance a bunch of money hoarders who could easily fix many of todays problems but can't because they will lose their position on a magazine published every year on the worlds richest people. God knows that $53 billion is so much different than $52 billion. Its amazing that Billionaires, like Bill Gates, put so much energy into population control when they never have to come in contact with the third world anyway.
Too much money or power makes men crazy. More..
