Up to $900,000 worth of pot busted in Southeast Missouri

DEXTER, MO (KFVS) - Stoddard County Sheriff's deputies busted a large pot growing operation south of Dexter Thursday morning.

Two people have been arrested and one arrest is pending, according to Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner.

Robert Williams and Don Murphy face felony charges of trafficking and manufacturing marijuana.

Deputies found 300 to 400 marijuana plants in a vacated trailer with a high tech ventilation and growth light system on old Sand Road about 8 a.m. Thursday.

"This is very sophisticated with their ventilation system and their grow lights. They have invested lots and lots of time and lots of money into this operation," Hefner said.

The pot is estimated to be worth between $800,000 and $900,000.

The sheriff's department received an anonymous tip Wednesday night.

Hefner says it's the largest indoor growth operation he's seen since he's been in office which has been 20 years.

  • no...I estimate at least a billion dollars woth there...you have to take into account the potent stalks and stems...back in the 60's you used to have to smoke 15 stems to get a buzz, or what the kids called, a hummer, now with the potency of marijuana up some 4000%, you can smoke one or two stalks and become wheelchair bound or a meth addict.
