Anwar AlAwlaki pictured praying beside President Ali Abdullah Saleh in a mosque. Anwar’s maternal uncle is the current Yemen PM Ali Mohammad Mujawwar, and his father is Nasser AlAwlaki former Agriculture Minister serving for Ali Abdullah Saleh. When the US first demanded AlAwlaki be handed over or targeted the Yemen foreign minister Abu Bakr AlQirbi complained that he was a mere preacher and not a terrorist. While briefly in prison in Yemen, Anwar AlAwlaki was allowed to read 150-200 pages per day of a manual by Sayid Qutub that is the takfiri (terrorist ideology) bible.

He graduated in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University in 1994 on a student visa claiming to be Yemeni, although he was actually a US citizen from birth, in order to obtain a Yemeni government scholarship through his corrupt government contacts.

On Saturday night October 1st 2011 a loyalist fighter jet bombed and killed 30 anti-AlQaeda soldiers from the 119th Brigade in Zinjibar, Abyan. After the strike, “AlQaeda” agents apparently related to Yemen secret services descended on the camp and killed the rest of the wounded in a coordinated attack. The crime of the 119th Brigade was to have defected from the President and to support the revolution. Anti-AlQaeda soldiers and fighters have been bombed several times by loyalist fighter jets. Wikileaks previously revealed that Ali Abdullah Saleh gave Saudi fighter jets the wrong coordinates of the 1st Armoured Division in an attempt to assassinate General Ali Mohsen who stood against the president’s son inheriting the presidency. The 1st Armoured Division was fighting in the north of Yemen in the Houthi wars and the Saudi fighters uncovered the deception.

Today Ali Abdullah Saleh demonstrates his commitment by withdrawing loyalist forces including US trained anti-terror units from Abyan and diverting them to attack pro-democracy protest camps in the capital, leaving the fight against AlQaeda to revolutionary units.



UPDATE: An admission from the British Embassy Military Attache in Yemen, during a meeting with the most senior government authority in Aden city, Abdul-Karim Shaif, on November 21st 2011, the military attache was recorded as saying to the latter "you are behind the explosions and assassinations, it is you who brought the terrorism and made it grow in Aden and its environs, and we know that well" (translation from Arabic source http://aden-online.net/news/2083.htm ).
