Place of worship stays as one long as religion that uses it says it is not one, but if place of worship is used for military purposes it loses all protection it may have had by international law. It is possible that in some cases all places of worship may lose protection if abuse is widespread, but considering how un-PC that would be it is unlikely to hapen.
